I've never used the 'llvm' variant of gcc. Could you please try with the normal 
gcc (4.2)? That one should work.

Alternatively you can install the latest gcc (4.6.1 or even 4.7?) via MacPorts 
and use that. Has a couple of drawbacks compared to the version supplied by 
Apple, but works well enough.
