well, not forgetting it, maybe I should word it slightly differently. don't constantly try and figure out how to do something the same way on the mac. folders for example. All I meant, was constant comparison in the sense of, it didn't do that on windows, or how do I do this like I did on windows. Any new OS needs to be learnt for itself. in the sense that applications and terminalogy are different but I have seen a lot of people who frustrate themselves by constantly trying to get the mac to act like windows. Better piece of advice, forget you used windows while learning the mac. learn it as its own entity and you'll be fine. I personally rarely wander back to windows but I still remember how it works, it's like riding a bike, as they say, but for those first few weeks, it is crucial you learn the mac as its own platform.

Marie, I'm not opposed to forgetting the windows platform. My question is, is it worth forgetting? Jim

I do second this notion Chantelle, forgetting the windows platform is essential when learning the mac. I bet those of us who forgot it learned the mac a lot easier than those who could not let go of windows for one reason or another. it is definitely easier to forget it, but for some easier said than done. :)

Hi, Jim,
I am going to tell you right now that you need to forget all that you know about windows when it comes to using your mac. Mac is very different from windows in the way that the screen reads things, and the way you navigate the screen is different. With the mac, you must interact with tables and other things by hitting control option shift down arrow.
Stop interacting by hitting control option shift up arrow.

My name is Jim Rawls, from Southern California, and my friend Peggy Fleischer, says I need to switch to the Mac. So, since I have been a windows user for 8 years, is the change hard? Is the relearning all the stuff I have to learn easy, and where can I get a list of the commands I need with voice over?

I would appreciate all the help you can offer.
Thanks in advance.
