Mark,
No, no amusement here. Times are tough & getting tougher all over the world.
Do you have any friends locally with similar models of phone that you could
test your charger on? Just a thought. Hope you figure it out.

Hi, CXJ. Yes, logic would dictate that the off-brand charger is the culprit.
However, it’s been working perfectly for over a year, and as you say, I can’t
think of any reason why the performance should change—it hasn’t been dropped
or used as a coaster or anything. And, I agree, your method of
troubleshooting the problem—getting a second Apple wireless charger—is the
answer. Would you believe, I’m too poor / broke to do this? And, would you
believe, my “home,” is one very small room off the back end of a house? It’s
so small, the apartment has a “1/2,” in its street address. I was, I guess,
interested in knowing if anyone else had experienced a sudden and
inexplicable drop in induction levels from a wireless charger due to
something like corrosion or something.
It also seems that positioning is all. Even though the phone makes the sound
effect and haptic that indicates it’s charging, apparently optimal position
is somewhere slightly different—we’re talking a half an inch in positioning
seems to make the difference. S, the indicator is a bit misleading in this
respect.
Sorry for the sob story; I also can’t afford a new phone because the damn
battery’s gone flat again.
I hope I’ve provided all yall with some amusement, at least.

Mark,
I’m not an expert in these matters, by any stretch of the imagination.
However, I was @ one time a software engineer & logic flow is everything in
that pursuit. So, that being said, if the OEM’s charger is providing
optimal performance, but the after-market is no-longer providing it’s
previous performance level; then logic dictates the problems probably with
the wireless charger. I don’t see the 10R’s level of inductance changing
over time. Have you considered purchasing a second wireless charger for
test purposes? If the result remains the same, then you can begin to
suspect the phone. If, however, the newer charger performs as you believe
it should, then you know the original wireless charger is the culprit. If
nothing else, then you’ll have a second charging station for another room in
your home or work.
Anyway, hope that helped a little & best of luck in chasing the answer down,
CJ

Hi, list. I hope this isn’t too far off-topic. I appreciate the variety of
topics embraced here.
I’m using an iPHone XR, a5bout a year old, but its battery health is still
at 94% efficiency, supporting peak performance. Usually, I place it on a
wireless charger (I don’t believe it’s an apple product), and it has kept
my battery charge at 100% all day long, no matter what activity I’m doing
with the phone. Lately, though, the battery charge is dropping, while on
the wireless charger. When I plug it directly into power, though, it
charges fine.
Has anyone else seen this behavior? Is it my wireless charger, going wonky?
Does that even happen? Any opinions welcome…
