Repairing permissions should be done after you have installed new
software, or, an update.

Repairing permissions helps to creat a more direct path for your files and programs, so, that your MAC runs more smoothly, this is the quick
explanation.

Repairing permissions,

Go to the utilities directory,
from the finder, command-shift-u
Then to disk utility,
Interact with the table and find your drive, then click on the
firstaid tab.

VO keys, or, tab over to the repair permissions button and Press it
with VO keys-space bar.

It may take several minutes and you can VO-leftarrow to the results table,
or, wait until the repair permissions button is not dim.
