Recording with a click track will help keep it tight but is not essential, also
if something like GB is going to be used, other elements such as drum backing,
can be used but not if the audio is not tight.
You don't need to know too much about GB to do what you want.

Obstacle or Opportunity ?

Ok, I may have bitten off more than I can chew here, a professional musician
friend in Boston is helping out with a church service April 19, we’re using
recorded music over Zoom. I half joking said I could send her a bass solo and
she can do some magic and make her guitar join it. Of course she said it was
a fun idea, now I have to not screw up the solo and record it. She says I can
send her an MP3, a WAV or a Garage Band track.
I don't have time to learn the ins and outs of Garage band, can I just have
my 12 year old hit record and I play along with my usual metronome through a
headset? Or do I have to keep time with Garage Band?
If an MP3 or WAV is a good solution, wha’ts the best app to record that?
Oh, don't worry about the audio interface, my bass effects processor has USB
out, and I have a back up USB interface I can plug into. This means I can’t
use a lack of connectivity to bail out of the plan.
Thanks much,
Ian
