Jacob, again, you're right. There are Linux and other discussion lists and forums, and those operating systems should be viewed the same way in which we view WIndows on this list. If one is using that operating system i a secondary manner to the Mac, fine, but if that operating system becomes your primary environment, you need to be on one of those lists. Your Mac has now become your Windows, Linux, or other type of PC, and that should indeed be off-topic.

Hi
I realize I should probably clarify. I'm not targetting Windows specifically as irrelevant, though I personally do not care for Windows. Discussion about Linux, Solaris, or any other operating system that's not Mac and Voiceover related should be considered off- topic.

Just wanted to clarify so I don't end up as flame bate later :).

Oh, man, I absolutely agree with this one. Virtualization should indeed be on topic up to a point. When you use that virtual copy of Windows as your main operating environment, though, is when I think the discussion should be taken elsewhere. Again, no offense intended. I know email sometimes sounds harsh, and I don't want to sound that way at all. It's just my opinion, and I will respect others. Thanks.

Hi
Well, I'll drop my opinion in here, why not?
I agree with you on this one, Keith. Discussing the accessibility of virtualization software with Voiceover is one thing, and that's great. But let's keep the actual discussions about Windows screen readers and the usage of windows off the list, as it's really not relevant. An example: Asking how accessible VmWware Fusion is with Voiceover, or how to navigate it, would be acceptable in my mind. Asking questions about how well Jaws or window-eyes will work is not, and inevitably detracts from the list's focus on Voiceover. I have to point out the debate that happened a little while back about which windows screen reader works better in Fusion, and I was afraid for a while it was going to turn into yet another Jaws vs. Window-eyes flame fest, and I've seen enough of those to last a lifetime. So, let's keep Voiceover on this list, and the windows screen readers off. They have their own lists, as well as the general access lists.

Just my $0.02 on this for what it's worth
Jake

Jane,

I respect your opinion, however, this list was created to help new mac users to learn. Although we may handel some Windows interface questions, this list is going to stay MAC.
