Very respectfully, and I sincerely mean that to anyone who might be
put off by this message, there are plenty of Windows lists out there.
If you are using Windows on a Mac, you are*not* furthering the cause
of the Mac operating system. You are just using the Mac hardware to
run Windows. Therefore, your Mac has become your new WIndows PC. It
is no different from running Windows on a Dell or an HP. I want to
hear about people actually using the Mac operating system in a
productive manner on a daily basis, not just using it as a cool new
toy or a novelty or a back-up to their WIndows system. SOrry, just my
$.02, and I mean no offense to anyone. I'm a dedicated mac user who
has been forced to use Windows up until now, and I don't want to use
it anymore. I'm not saying a person shouldn't use Windows and discuss
it, but there are probably twenty or more lists devoted to that
operating system. Thank for reading, and please do not feel slighted
in any way by this message.

Hi everybody,
I agree with Jane. I don't think that messages about using Windows
screen readers on the Mac is that much off topic. Also, I don't
want "Yet Another Mailing List" about Macs and accessibility. In
fact, I'd like to have just one list on this topic. .

Keith and others. Apple *did* open up their operating system to
use Windows, so there is *going* to be crossover, as regards
discussing efficient ways of using it with the Mac. You can't have
it one way or the other. Since Windows is now allowed to be an
integral part of the system for those who choose to use it, it
would be wrong to exclude any commentary--imncluding screen
readers, or programs to help Windows run--on this list.

Dear VO users,
I have read many posts about people who are using Jaws and Window
Eyes, but no one has talked about System Access, except me. I have
tried it out at length and find it to be much easier to use on a
web
page than Jaws. So far I have not found anything that I can't do
with the free System
Access at satogo.com
The teachers at the TN School for the Blind said that they prefer
System Access, too. You must use IE to launch the System Access,
but
once you do, you can use everything on the computer, or everything
that you could use with other Windows screen readers. I much
prefer
using my Mac, but if you have to use Windows, this is a good way
to
do it. You can start it up from any computer that has broadband
access to the net; don't have to have administrative rights to the
computer. Give it a try.
