Thanks, based on that I was able to use the VO I item chooser to find the word
display and make the change. Looks like .125 seconds is the finest adjustment
you can make, still playing around with that. An eighth of a second is a pretty
coarse adjustment, I’m looking for a way to tune things a little more finely
when I’m synching up, but this is a great start.

speaking from the logic perspective, when you stop interacting you have
tracks, library and inspector usually, scroll left to a control bar, interact
and again scroll left to another control bar, within this you should find a
pop-up menu for display mode where you can select time.

Thanks much, worked great this time. To synch up my separately recorded
voice memos by panning one all the way to the left and one all the way to
the right so I could tell which one was further ahead, then shaving of
subsecond incriments until I couldn’t tell them apart. It might not be
technically perfect, but it will be really good enough.
Next thing I’m trying to figure out, switching the time ruler from measures
and beats into seconds and decimals. I’m following the instructions I’ve
found, but no luck. Any wisdom on how to do this?

I usually do this by going into the track header, moving to the position I
want to paste, then do so. this will create a new track with that file on
it.
Make sure you don't have another track on solo or you won't hear the new
track.
you can also copy a file into an existing track, it will take up the plug
ins, volume, and pan of that track. in your situation i would paste to a
new track which would give more control..
in short, you should be able to copy and paste most audio file types, they
don't all have to be the same format.

Ok, I thought I remembered how to add an existing audio file, like an M4A
Voice Memo, to a track in GarageBand on Mac. I did it yesterday and
managed ok, but when I tried to repeat the process it gave me one of
those, what do you think you’re doing? dialogues.
What worked for me once yesterday was to copy the file from Finder, go
into a track on GarageBand and paste it. I really really thought I did the
exact same thing, but nothing worked today.
If this is old hat to you, can you remind me what to make sure of, like
make sure to interact with the track, or make sure you aren’t interacting
with the track, or do a mouse click, or whatever you do don’t mouse click
the track. Things like that.
Thanks,
Ian
