Based on your previous suggestion I was able to cut and paste the regions into
their appropriate spots in the track, and then use the select and join
function.
So, I have successfully created my first project with a drum track, bass,
rhythm guitar, and 3 lead guitar regions strung together, all looped out to 32
bars and exported.Should be pretty quick once I get the hang of it.
Things I picked up from your shared wisdom:
Use copy instead of drag and drop.
You don’t have to go back to the tracks content area to paste, you can paste
right from the loops browser.
Don’t fuss about regions going into their own tracks, you can go get them from
there.
Thanks,
Ian

you could begin with them on separate tracks, set your cycle start and end
points then save to disc then import that file back into the project as a
single region, which could now be looped

Thanks, I want to figure out if our church musicians want to create music
this way first before I step up to Logic. We’re still under strong
restrictions here, so won’t be gathering for live music any time soon.
It needs to be in one track because that’s what the tutorial on AppleVis
said to do. Looks like it is to learn ohow to string 3 regions of four bars
each together to make one lead guitar solo of 12 bars that can then be
looped. I guess maybe it would be handy to be able to treat it as one track
for panning and volume and such.
Thanks again for your patience and wisdom.

looks like in gb you need to go into the edit menu to copy, i was then able
to paste without leaving the loops table.
if you wanted to paste into an existing track you probably need to first
paste into a new track then go into that track in the track contents and
copy and paste the region.
if it is an audio track it will only be affected by the plug-ins already
assigned to the track. if it is a software track it will also take on the
software instrument assigned to that track.
Why does it have to be placed on the same track ? when you save to disc it
will all be on one track.
i work solely in logic now so some of my replies may not seem to apply but
i opened a gb project to look at your questions.
if you find that you are doing more and more sound and music projects you
will find logic a superior app to use, though it will cost a few dollars,
it is worth the investment.

Cool, way easier than drag and drop. I wasn’t able to use command c to
copy, had to go iinto the edit menu and click from there, is this normal
for you?
Also, I’m at the part of the AppleVis blog lesson where I’m supposed to
paste a loop into a track, putting one 4 bar lead guitar loop after
another instead of creating a new track. Everything I’ve tried so far
creates me a new track instead of adding a region in my existing track.
Any wisdom on this?

Thanks for the wisdom.
Do you paste on the workspace, on the existing track, or open a new
track and paste into there?

i copy and paste, after copying the loop in the loop browser i move to

then while in the track header paste.
after this i go into the track contents to the new track and loop the
file.

Hello list, hoping one of the Garage Band gurus has a simple answer
for this. All of the tutorials I’ve found say you need to drag and
drop a loop to a track. The explanation on how to do this makes sense
and works most of the time for me, but I’m wondering if there is a
simpler way to do this task with Voiceover.
So If I have my drum loop inits track, and I want to add a bass loop,
I find it in the loops browser, anything I can do instead of drag and
drop to the work space?
