OK, I have an external drive with 5 partitions. I selected the actual drive itself in Disk Utility and then choose the partition tab. In the scroll area that shows the 5 partitions, I selected one with VO-spacebar. When I stop interacting with the scroll area, I see the name of that partition, it's format, which is dimmed, but I can change the size, as the edit field can be altered. Take Care John D.
