Thank you for the pointers. All suggested solutions are certainly
feasible, except the most obvious one: databases usually provide only
synchronous client libraries, and a single sysbench instance can be used
to benchmark multiple cluster nodes. So benchmarks with thousands active
threads are not too uncommon.
I'm going to experiment with other solutions. Thanks again!
