[lit-ideas] post-nuke novels

Here are two rather high quality post-nuclear novels that some list members might have missed:


Riddley Walker (1980) by Russell Hoban, and Fiskadoro (1985) by Denis Johnson. Both writers have created hybrid languages for their narrators, Johnson's being the more austere.


The use of dogs in Riddley Walker is interesting. Post-nuke dogs become the enemies of humans, perhaps blaming us for the overthrow of what's left of the natural world.
