A sloping forehead probably reduced wind resistance. 'Cavemen' were poised on the brink of becoming hunter-gatherers, who needed--at least in hunting--to run as fast as possible.

Yeah, that's a possibility, but here's a better one: slanted foreheads like slanted sports cars are sexy. The cavemen fucked themselves to death until only the flatheads were left. Women have been unhappy with men ever since. Two birds with one stone. Beat that.
