This just in: George Bush has approved Ariel Sharon's new Feng Shui proposals
in a redesign of the Middle East. Sharon's plan consists of 14 Feng Shui
proposals outlined below:
1) The most important first step to realizing the benefits of Feng Shui is to
perform a space clearing procedure. Every environment has accumulated negative
energy, or "sha chi" that needs to be eliminated. This procedure will make all
other cures more effective.

2) It is ideal that energy or 'chi' is able to flow in a meandering, unbroken
path from the front to the back. If the back is in direct alignment with the
front, place a large plant or decorative screen or wall in an appropriate place
between the two.

3) The area directly outside determines the quality of the 'chi' that enters
your home. This space must be kept very clean and orderly.

4) A pair of male and female Foo dogs placed outside the entrance will serve as
protectors of the home and will repel negativity.

5) Space clearing is an important element in maintaining a healthy bathroom.
Burning incense refreshes the atmosphere and improves the quality of chi or
energy. Do not store unused incense in the bathroom since its porous quality
will absorb and hold stagnant chi.

6) It is considered problematic for the head of the bed to share a wall with
the doorway since this is thought to disturb sound sleep and cause
disagreements in the relationship. If this is your case, consider placing a
screen, or some other diversion, between the bed and the door.

7) Never place the head of your bed against a wall with a toilet on the other
side. This is considered detrimental to health and must be avoided.

8) Never position your bed under a sloping ceiling. This directs too much fast
moving 'chi' down on you as you sleep and can cause insomnia, depression, and
other imbalances in your health. If this type of architecture is unavoidable, a
wall with horizontal bamboo mounting can help to redirect this oppressive force.

9) Beware of air conditioning. Recycled air is dead air. There is no fresh
healthy 'chi' to revitalize you as you sleep. Try to get into the habit of
leaving a window open at night. If this is not possible, use an air purifier
that emits negative ions to replicate the energy quality of fresh air.

10) Never place a mirror opposite, over, or at the side of your bed. Mirrors
have a profound effect on the movement of 'chi' and are way too powerful for
healthy sleep. It is also said that a mirror near the bed will invite outside
interference into the relationship. Strictly speaking, there should be no
mirrors in the bedroom at all, but if this can not be avoided, place it in an
area where you can't see your reflection in while lying in bed.

11) A plant in the bedroom is helpful for adding the healthy wood element and
to improve air quality, but keep the number of plants to a minimum and
relatively small size. Peace lilies are a good choice.

12) The living room is a space where family and friends share time and energy.
Be sure that the art chosen for this gathering place reflects the positive
experiences that you wish to cultivate. Avoid harsh, geometric abstract
compositions, which tend to be cold and unsettling. Also avoid overly serious
subject matter that might be oppressive on an unconscious level.

13) The living room is a very appropriate place to display one of the
auspicious Feng Shui deities. A beautiful sculpture of the wise and smiling
Yahweh will inspire lighthearted good will in everyone who sees him. He will
also bless the family with good fortune. Jehovah is another powerfully vengeful
presence and will inspire fear of the Lord among family members and is a symbol
of loving protection.

14) Arranging furniture in a circular formation will create a sense of unity
and comfort and promote a healthy flow of 'chi'. Avoid awkward angles that may
create poison arrows. Be sure not to crowd furniture or use pieces that are
too large for the space. Less is always more except when it comes to land.
