Hi,
Oh, if we were really at war, esp a War on Terrorism, our Commander in Chief
would have known about the deal regarding the ports (esp with his brother
Neil and all the contacts he has with the UAE)

He would be a little concerned about opening that door to a country that our
State Dept says has lots of terrorist issues. (I am posting the State
Dept.'s warning about the UAE)

Not to mention that he just nominated one of their guys to work as Maritime
Administrator...

I am beginning to believe that, yes, we are in a war with Osama and his
type--but the rest of the Islamic world? Sounds more and more like diplomacy
would and should be just fine---there are lots of creative people in this
world
(just look at the dealmakers Bush has on his staff and is in touch with!)
So, maybe we should be making deals with the leaders of the Iranians? Surely
if we can buy out all the terrorists that the State Dept says are in there so
that our president claims that we have absolutely nothing to worry
about--then why not?

I just think that either our president (claiming he had no idea of this
deal) is either on a permanent vacation and his staff folk are the most corrupt

and sneaky and scary people ever to have in positions of power -- or else the
War on Terror is completely ridiculous and what we had in 9-11 was an act of
terror--and should have been dealt with in that regard ...

IF one wants to call it a War on Terror--I think it has been completely
mishandled - that the creative energy going into making deals surely could be
used to make war in a manner that does not cause such significant loss of
life,
infrastructure, day-to-day worsening of all innocents--and this latest
decision simply shows that to me again--it's simply unbelievable that he could
claim that he has to spy on Americans, etc--and then open the door to a nation
that he/his people *claim* can control the fundamentalist Islamic types in
their
 UAE country.

Things just do not make sense. Either he is tough on Terror and is appalled
at this deal--and ends it promptly--or he has been just playing and toying
with us all along...at least in regards to the claim that concerns about
Terror in the Middle East is more than that which would cause an "act" of
terrorism--and is a "war" on terrorism. Well, again--he could just have
mentally
[physically?] checked out again--kind of like how he claimed that we were
addicted to oil and then promptly flew to fundraisers in various parts of the
country the next couple of days instead of working at the White House...(and
maybe
picking up on the fact that he had recommended this guy and that this deal
was underway--)

and then:
U.S. State Dept. statement for travel to UAE
SAFETY AND SECURITY: Americans in the United Arab Emirates should exercise a
high level of security awareness. The Department of State remains concerned
about the possibility of terrorist attacks against U.S. citizens and
interests throughout the world. Americans should maintain a low profile, vary
routes
and times for all required travel, and treat mail and packages from
unfamiliar sources with caution. In addition, U.S. citizens are urged to avoid
contact
with any suspicious, unfamiliar objects, and to report the presence of the
objects to local authorities. Vehicles should not be left unattended, if at
all possible, and should be kept locked at all times. U.S. Government personnel

overseas have been advised to take the same precautions. In addition, U.S.
Government facilities may temporarily close or suspend public services from
time to time as necessary to review their security posture and ensure its
adequacy.
