In which case it may do to do the "nationality" game. If Popper, an Austrian, wrote in English, it may do to study how AUSTRIAN philosophers (who write, ceteris paribus, in Austrian German) treat Popper as they read them in Austrian German.
Personally, I prefer to read the first book by Popper in German. Forschung is such a lovely word. And so on. 

With Jaspers it is quite different, in that he never _wrote_ in English.

And so on.
