Okay maybe I get the unconscious in wars.
Take the Cola Wars.
Coke is the father. Pepsi is the mom (sweeter, not as aggressive).
The idea is to put Coke out of business so you can only have Pepsi, but
you can't really express that desire because patricide is taboo, so you
decide to emulate Coke, and eventually displace it so you can have Pepsi
all to yourself.
The result. Coke increases market share over Pepsi, which only heightens
the unconscious desire for Pepsi. This leads to full-blown neurosis,
where you just sit around in your apartment drinking Tab all day long.
