The esteemed Mike quotes: "No more orgies! Enough with
the orgies." Aristotle's speech to the UN.
Everyone who knew Aristotle knew he was a party guy.
Big on knowledge. Big on fun. He put the jam in
jamboree. Always had the best gal at the gala.
You see, Plato was the really wet blanket. Old Mister
Painless Ideal Forms wanted to abolish marriage and
private property, and put that schmear in the control
of some Sourpuss Convention called the Philosopher Kings.
Aristotle knew better. He knew that if everything was
permitted, nothing would be any fun. The forbidden
fruit gets more attention, trees get pruned, people
water their lawns, that kinda thing. Don't throw
Socrates in that there brier patch.
Sure Aristotle dissed women, but you gotta remember
those antifeminist comments followed his breakup with
Betty Sue Themistocles. Running off with that rich
descendant of Zeno of Citium ... you know it just turns
guy's head wrong.
All of which is to say you can be, like Old Soc, the
first to ask a question ... but it doesn't mean you can
get the answer right the first time around the barn.
Sincerely,
Coffee Annum
