refuse' to send their little contingents into Iraq so that Rumsfeld
could tout the invasion as a 'coalition' effort to the home crowd.

I forwarded some information from the Global Security web page about non-US/UK forces in Iraq. Part of it was out of date. Poland has postponed the withdrawal of its troops until the end of this year. (The decision to withdraw them by the end of 2005 was made by a former government.) Ukraine, however, withdrew all its forces in December 2005, so if Lawrence's friend saw any Ukrainian troops, they were probably free-lancing.
