L. Helm quotes:

"... but the breakthrough also raises the
prospect of customized pets."

This reminded me on second thoughts on J. Baker's intro to H. P. Grice,
"The conception of value" -- The Paul Carus lectures. More than one paragraph
is dedicated to the Old English Sheep Dog (Canis lupus familiaris).

According to Baker and Grice, the dog has an aggregate value, and there may
be a conceptual analysis as to what that might be. Petting him adds to
that value, too.

Cheers,

Speranza
