Ursula: This is all so sad for the world.
Because a Coast Guard boat has a machine gun?
Okay, maybe they should use copper bullets or devise some
sort of cannon that fires nets to trap hostile boats. Any
environmental concerns should be addressed if they are real.
On the other hand, Canada went from being the world's third
largest navy in Word War II to a small fishing boat type
fleet today. And if a terrorist paramilitary group slips
through the Great Lakes and attacks a nuclear power plant,
guess who'll get the blame? Having a stronger Coast Guard
presence does nothing to harm US-Canadian relations.
If you want to read something truly sad for the world, look
at what's ahead for space:

Beijing secretly fires lasers to disable US satellites
By Francis Harris in Washington
China has secretly fired powerful laser weapons designed to
disable American spy satellites by "blinding" their
sensitive surveillance devices, it was reported yesterday.
The hitherto unreported attacks have been kept secret by the
Bush administration for fear that it would damage attempts
to co-opt China in diplomatic offensives against North Korea
and Iran.
