Omar: I don't like Francis Fukuyama too much, but if
Hitchens wants to take him out something must be right
with him. Here is a new article by him, titled "Europe
vs. Radical Islam."
From the article Omar cited:
What each European society needs is to invent an
open form of national identity similar to the
American creed, an identity that is accessible to
newcomers regardless of ethnicity or religion.
That sounds good! So if Muslim butchers in
Germany, say, violate German health codes, they
will cease and desist their Muslim butcher
practice, recognizing their identity as German
citizens trumps their need to kill animals a'la
the Koran? That would be great!
It's not what actually happened though. When the
Germans tried to make the butchers comply with
humane practices and sanitation rules, there were
Muslim riots in Germany and the Germans caved in
on their public health and humane treatment of
animals codes. But if Fukuyama's desired goal is
achieved, no more riots; instead there will be
assimilation. Sounds great!
