Hi,
Well, at least we know that the Lit-Ideas people are busy taking care of the
Earth.

Much inspiration by our Palo Alto and Portland folks (what is renewable
energy sales, though?)

Is there anyone here from Austin? What is the difference between the
'community-owned' energy companies, and the regular ones? Prices? Quality?
Ability to use/make renewable sources?

Best,
Marlena
Waiting to fly away...but the plane's been cancelled three times as they
expect anywhere from 3 to 17 inches by the airport tomorrow morning...

Austin Energy in Texas in 2005 led the United States in renewable energy
sales and Portland General Electric in Oregon led in sales to residential
customers, the U.S. Department of Energy said in a report covering 600
utilities.
The city of Palo Alto in California was tops in the rate of its customers
participating in renewable energy programs, and Xcel Energy Inc. had the most
total customers in such programs, said the DOE's National Renewable Energy
Laboratory.
Austin Energy is a community-owned electric utility serving 360,000 customers
in Austin and Travis counties in Texas.
Portland General Electric, based in Portland, Oregon, with 775,000 customers
is the largest utility in Oregon. It is until April 3 a subsidiary of Enron
Corp. It will then become a public company with the symbol of POR on the New
York Stock Exchange. It is expected to be listed about April 10.
Xcel, based in Minneapolis, operates utilities in 10 Western and Midwest
states that serve about 3.3 million electric and 1.8 million natural gas
customers.
