May I call your attention to:

Begorrah, now there's a word I'm not sure how to spell. "Begorrah and Sons, authentic publicans since late last week." Somewhere I have a cd with a song, "I'm just a plastic Paddy." It's about singing in a place that serves green beer. Ah, begorrah, the world is a wonderful place, oi'm tinking.

In other news:

Washington State has a new tourism slogan. You may remember that Oregon spent $450,000 to come up with, "Oregon. We Love Dreamers." Washington was thriftier, but ended up with fewer letters, $442,000 for "SayWA," which, we are told, is "a distillation of the sense of wonder that comes with discovery."

Our local animal shelter, tasked of course with giving animals away, is offering a hundred dollar reward for a kitten that the shelter people had decided to keep, and on which someone--clearly very smitten-- apparently performed a five-finger adoption. The name of said kitten? "Smitten." "It seems factual that it was in fact a theft," said police Lt. Mike Rouches, quoted by the Oregonian.

I'm reminded of the "Beyond the Fringe" skit about the great train robbery (hint to Father Christmas--this is now available on DVD).
<x-tad-bigger>"When you speak of a train robbery, this, in fact, involved no loss of train. It was merely the contents of the train that were pilfered."
"Whom do you suspect?"
"We believe this to be the work of thieves."</x-tad-bigger>

Carry on dreaming.
