Bob Dylan sat stone-faced thru another boring, interminable,
'more-effort-required-than-it-was-ever-worth' lecture by H.Putnam as they
received honorary doctorates together at the oldest Scotish University known
to mankind.
(google 'Expecting Rain' for more).
For a previous example see Putnam's logically flawed and essentially
misconceived attack on Popper in Popper's _Schillp_ vol. and Popper's reply -
which, while partially devastating, (perhaps unfortunately) refuses to take
Putnam's arrogant waffle seriously enough to deal its supporters a knock-out
blow. (Cf. Popper's serious-minded though hilarious demolition of AJ Ayer's
paper in the same volume - which is a knock-out).
Clearly neither thought him as important as he thinks himself, the rc-.
