Andy: I said [immortality] was a secret ambition. Creation is
certainly fun in and of itself, but it's awfully nice to have it
read and appreciated by others, especially through the ages.
Eric: You'd really love Milan Kundera's _Immortality_. It's
available in paperback if that's an incentive. His first book
written in French, I think. Wonderful discussion of the illusion of
immortality in European culture.
When you write something good, you can feel it, and immediately want
to share it with others. That's where the juice is--not being
anthologized after you're defunct.
