[Linuxtrent] strano errore

ciao ragazzi,
sto installando ex novo la potato release 5 su un pentium 90 con una
scheda di rete realtek8139.
Tutto ok se non fosse che, dopo aver correttamente caricato il modulo
della suddetta scheda, durante la configurazione di base della rete
alla fine mi compare un fantomatico errore:
eth0: "Couldn't allocate a 65535 byte receive ring"
cosa posso fare per rimediare?
Aggiungo che ho gia' montato deb dagli stessi cd su un p200 con stessa
scheda di rete e non mi ha dato problemi.
