[Linux-Discussion] Newbie / USB question

I am considering buying a used PC to run Linux. I have never installed Linux
and am hoping to minimize complications.
eBay has too many PCs to choose from, but there is an IBM PII machine that
has two USB ports. Other machines have integrated 10/100 Ethernet adapters.
Are USB and integrated Ethernet features something I should stay away from?
Anything else I can do to avoid major problems?
