What debootstrap version are you using?
0.2.44
I'm running debootstrap[0] from debian arm unstable as host system.
Anything I should know about the base system you're trying this?
Busybox?
My machine runs the kernel 2.6.11.8-ep93xx and the root filesystem is
Denx 3.1 ARM.
BusyBox is v0.60.5 however this file system provides all the utilities
as singular files (cat, cp ...).
