In packet write the writer is able to write and fixate only that data that is available to be written,The rest of the unwritten sectors is left blank for future writes. AFAIK, all other writer modes write the data and fixate the entire disc. So I guess maybe when the cdrecord writes an iso installation disc it does so but includes any unwritten element but fixated in the lead out . Just a thought, that is all, don't know for sure. Just trying to rationalise the difference. The only other thought that occured to me was maybe that cdrecord is calculating the number of sectors of data on the installation disc itself, rather than the number of sectors of the iso image file it originated from. Does that make sense ?
