just means it's running as a daemon, check your .fetchmailrc and comment out any
part that says:
set daemon xxx where xxx is the number of seconds between polls.
run "top" and see if fetchmail is running, if it is, kill it, then you can run
it with-v or whatever if you want.

anything run at boot, IIRC, is in /etc/init.d, you'll see a script there called
"sendmail" if it runs at boot.
