Working with my son who known Japanese I started looking at the Japanese braille code I have a simple table defining two glyphs from that language: あ and い They are defind as follows in the table: letter \x3042 1 letter \x3041 1 letter \x3044 12 letter \x3043 12 When I run the following text: あ ぁ い ぃ I do not get what I would expect that is a Braille A (1) twice on the first line and a Braille B (12) on the second line but rather I get this: A A C C Can someone tell me why?
