Well, I didn't anticipate that we'd run into so much trouble by requiring a new texinfo.

So what version of makeinfo do you have installed now? What does it say if you type `makeinfo --version`? What does it say if you type `which makeinfo`? Is this folder in your PATH? Autoconf searches the PATH for the makeinfo program.
