Nice story Alex. My guess is it was converted Pre-WWII since it still has
1/500th sec and also the diopter is still on the back eyepiece instead of
near the rewind knob. Are the controls nickel or chrome?

Judging from a side-by-side with my '32 Standard (where the controls are definitely nickel), these could well be chrome - as, of course, are those on my chrome III.

I think your guess on the timing of the conversion may well be right, as a post-war conversion would probably have been to a IIIa with the 1/1000th speed the split r/f-v/f window.

Anyway, it's a delight to use. The r/f with a new mirror is now strong and positive, the shutter with its new curtains is now very smooth, and I hope to finish the film this weekend to see how the Elmar performs.

.Jim Lager would be the expert on this stuff.

He would indeed - anyone got his book which presumably includes commentary on factory converted LTMs?

Best
