Roger, While Leica has provided a Niche market for quite a few years think that it was to a photo industry that was driven by film and one could use a basic full manual rangefinder camera to the same effectiveness as an SLR wonderbrick. Now the worm has turned....film itself is becoming somewhat of a niche market, shrinking the whole market Leica has to pander to. Look at first quater sales from Kodak...900,000 digital units, Canon 850,000 units...and those are just the top two. I agree that Leica is a Niche market supplier who happens to supply some of the most fun to shoot cameras coupled with stellar lenses...I just think that in today's world this will be a very tough road for them to continue to follow. A small business person can provide a nich market item to a niche market...but can a large company with an internaional market do so and survive? I hope so. -- Harrison McClary Harrison McClary Photography http://www.mcclary.net harrison@xxxxxxxxxxx ========================================================= To Unsubscribe: Send email to leica-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field.
