Hello all,

This group of photos was shot in the early 90s at Wallington Hall in the northernmost county of England, Northumberland.

The hall is now open to the public, and is one of the world's best preserved (almost untouched) pre-raphaelite interiors with furniture, wall paintings, sculptures,

and murals

by various members of the arts & craft movement and pre-raphaelite painters. The floral friezes were painted by guests visiting the hall, for instance William Morris, Arthur Hughes and John Ruskin.

The gardens are beautifully laid out and cared for.

However, they were not quite as idyllic as it appears at first sight:

Hope you enjoy them

Cheers
Douglas
