This afternoon at the cemetery, three immature sapsuckers were hanging around
some locust trees in the front center of the cemetery. While not 100% positive,
assuming these less than fully cooperative birds were not a mixed group, I'm
reasonably sure they were Yellow-bellied. One only remained visible long enough
to ascertain Sapsucker. One with a red forehead and a drab throat left after a
brief look. One with a reddish throat was more agreeable to sticking around.
It appeared to be developing a dark border to the throat, leading me to the
Yellow-bellied conclusion.
There were four Western Bluebirds front and center and the Vermilion Flycatcher
had returned to flycatch from a tree near the mausoleum.
