Well, In the U.S., "Hot Topic" is a teenager's clothing store, so I
can't buy ANY CDs there, new OR used. :-)
However, yes, many releases these days have no distribution. Many of the
best releases are not on major labels, and the indies have given up on
traditional distribution and only release online. You can buy them from
their website, or places like CD Baby if they are manufactured through
them, and also buy downloads most of the time. Getting the discs in
stores doesn't happen and the labels don't try either. I guess there's
not enough return for the expense so they don't sign distribution deals
any longer.
Even major labels aren't putting some of their product in stores these
days.
