"run it under fink"? fink is a software management system, not an
environment. there's a DarwinPort, I'm not aware of a Fink port.
./configure
make
you get a gpsd binary
gpsd -p /path/to/serial/port -s 4800
my serial port is /dev/tty.usbserial0, i'm using a pl2303 to attach a
serial gps to my powerbook.
