Honda gibt Erdgas-Fahrzeuge auf
Honda Motor gibt seine Bemühungen auf, erdgasbetriebene Fahrzeuge zu
entwickeln. Der japanische Autohersteller wird sich stattdessen auf Hybride und
Elektromodelle konzentrieren. Er entwickelt ein zweimotoriges Hybridsystem der
nächsten Generation, das in dem neuen Accord-Hybridmodell auftauchen wird, das
für 2018 angekündigt ist. Zudem wird Honda im nächsten Jahr ein überarbeitetes
wasserstoffbetriebenes Brennstoffzellenfahrzeug anbieten, wie John Mendel,
Executive Vice President von American Honda Motor, auf einer Pressekonferenz

Phaeton auch als Plug-in-Hybrid
Volkswagen wird die kommende Generation seines Topmodells Phaeton auch als
Plug-in-Hybrid auf den Markt bringen. Die Kombination von Benziner und
E-Maschine, deren Batterien auch an der Steckdose aufgeladen werden können, ist
insbesondere für die Zielmärkte China und USA bestimmt. Auf dem deutschen Markt
dürften indes moderne Dieselmotoren beliebter sein. In den Handel kommt der

Suzuki kooperiert mit Proton
Suzuki wird mit dem malaysischen Autohersteller Proton Holdings Berhad
zusammenarbeiten. Als erster Schritt der Partnerschaft wird SMC zerlegte
Komponenten für ein Suzuki-Modell an Proton liefern. Proton wird das Modell in
seinem eigenen Werk fertigen und es unter der Marke Proton über sein
Vertriebsnetzwerk in Malaysia verkaufen. Das erste Modell wird wahrscheinlich

Fernsteuerung für Range Rover
Das neue Drive-by-Bluetooth-System von Jaguar Land Rover wird es dem Fahrer
ermöglichen, sein Fahrzeug in riskanten Situationen per Smartphone zu steuern.
Dies bietet sich auch in Situationen an, in denen eine Außenansicht des zu
befahrenden Gebietes nützlich ist. Das System erlaubt es dem Fahrer auch, das
Auto bei einem sehr engen Parkplatz ein- oder auszuparken, ohne am Steuer zu
sitzen. Die Smartphone-App lenkt das Auto auf einer Distanz von bis zu zehn
Metern, sodass der Benutzer sicher nebenher laufen kann, während das Auto

Nissan greift Tesla an
Nissan will es auf dem Markt für stationäre Energiespeicher dank einer eigenen
Batterie-Lösung mit Tesla und anderen Wettbewerbern aufnehmen. Allerdings wählt
der japanische Autohersteller im Gegensatz zu dem US-amerikanischen
Elektroautobauer einen wesentlich umweltfreundlicheren Ansatz. Anstatt neue
Batterien für kommerzielle stationäre Anwendungen zu bauen, will Nissan
Lithium-Ionen-Batterien aus dem Modell Leaf mit Partner Green Charge Networks

Siemens reduziert Stellen in der Schweiz
Siemens streicht aufgrund der Frankenstärke Stellen in der Schweiz: Die Sparte
Building Technologies mit Sitz in Zug wird einzelne Produktionslinien ins
Ausland verlagern. Wegen der geplanten Veränderungen reduziere sich die Anzahl
der Stellen im Fertigungsbereich damit auf rund 350 von heute 500, gab das
Unternehmen bekannt. Die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit des Standortes Schweiz habe sich

Honda will drop CNG vehicles
Honda Motor is bringing efforts to develop natural-gas powered vehicles to an
end. The Japanese automaker will instead focus on hybrids and electric
vehicles. It is developing a next-generation, two-motor hybrid system that will
appear in a new Accord hybrid due by 2018, and will offer a redesigned
hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicle next year, John Mendel, executive vice
president of American Honda Motor, said at a news conference. (Automotive News

Phaeton also as a plug-in hybrid
Volkswagen's next-generation Phaeton flagship model will also be launched as a
plug-in hybrid. The combination of a gasoline engine and an electric machine,
the batteries of which can also be recharged at an electric socket, is
primarily meant to be sold in China and the U.S. On the German market, modern
diesel engines will probably be more popular. The new Phaeton will go on sale

Suzuki to partner with Proton
Suzuki Motor will cooperate with the Malaysian national automaker Proton
Holdings Berhad. As the first step of the partnership, SMC will supply KD
(knocked down) components for a Suzuki model to Proton. Proton is set to
manufacture the model at its own plant, and distribute and sell the model under
the Proton brand through its sales network in Malaysia. The first model will

Remote control for Range Rover
Jaguar Land Rover's new drive-by-Bluetooth system will enable the driver to
operate the vehicle via a smartphone in situations where it is too risky to
stay on board, or when it is of some benefit to have an outside view of the
terrain the vehicle is crossing. The system will also enable the driver to
maneuver the car into or out of an impossibly tight parking space without
needing to enter the cabin. The smartphone app controls the car, so the
operator can safely walk alongside, at a distance of much as 10 meters, as the

Nissan takes on Tesla
Nissan is seeking to take on Tesla and other rivals in the stationary energy
storage market with its own battery solution. However, unlike the U.S. electric
car manufacturer, the Japanese automaker is looking to take a much greener
approach. Instead of building fresh batteries for commercial stationary
applications, Nissan plans to instead reuse lithium-ion batteries from the Leaf

Siemens cuts jobs in Switzerland
Siemens is to cut jobs in Switzerland because of the strong franc. The Building
Technologies division in Zug will relocate certain manufacturing activities
abroad. As a consequence of the planned changes, the number of jobs in
production will be reduced from 500 today to roughly 350, the company
announced. The competitiveness of Switzerland as a business location has
deteriorated substantially in the past few years as a consequence of exchange
