Daimler lässt seit dem 4. April Neungang-Automatikgetriebe in Rumänien
herstellen. "Mit der Erweiterung der Getriebefertigung in Sebes können wir die
steigende Nachfrage nach Automatikgetrieben noch flexibler und effizienter
bedienen", erklärte Mercedes-Produktionsvorstand Markus Schäfer. Rumänien gilt
auch als aussichtsreicher Kandidat für eines von zwei geplanten neuen

Slowakei: Produktion überspringt die Millionengrenze
In der Slowakei, die mit den Autofabriken von Volkswagen, Kia und PSA seit
mehreren Jahren der größte Pro-Kopf-Autobauer der Welt ist, wurden 2015
erstmals mehr als eine Million Autos produziert. Eine exakte Zahl für das
vergangene Jahr wurde allerdings noch nicht veröffentlicht, da der größte
Hersteller Volkswagen Slovakia seine Daten erst Anfang Mai vorlegt. Nach
vorläufigen Zahlen wurden im VW-Werk 2015 rund 400.000 Fahrzeuge inklusive
lackierten und voll ausgerüsteten Karosserien des Porsche Cayenne gefertigt.

Toyota erweitert Microsoft-Partnerschaft um Connectivity-Dienste
Toyota baut eine fünf Jahre alte Partnerschaft mit Microsoft aus, um neue
Internet-verbundene Fahrzeugdienste für Eigentümer und Händler zu entwickeln.
Das kündigte das Unternehmen am 4. April an. Der japanische Autohersteller hat
Toyota Connected an seinem Hauptsitz in Plano im US-Bundesstaat Texas
eingerichtet, um seine bestehenden Connectivity-Dienste zu konsolidieren und
ein Datenwissenschafts-Zentrum zu bilden. Microsoft hält einen Anteil von fünf

Mexikanische Staatsregierung kurz vor Deal mit Kia
Ein Sprecher der mexikanischen Landesregierung hat am 4. April bekannt gegeben,
dass die Regierung "in den kommenden Tagen" eine Einigung mit Kia Motors in
einem Disput über die Bedingungen rund um die Eröffnung des erstes Werks des
südkoreanischen Herstellers in dem Land erreichen könnte. Die Regierung des
nördlichen Staats Nuevo León unter der Führung des parteilosen Jaime Rodríguez
Calderón fordert von Kia, einige der Anreize, die 2014 mit der vorherigen

Datenverbindungen mit hoher Bandbreite, die die Möglichkeiten der bisher

zukünftigen Datenmengen. Delphi hat mit der AMEC-Steckverbindungstechnik eine
erweiterbare Produktfamilie an Steckverbindungen entworfen, die eine
unkomplizierte und automobilgerechte Anwendung von zukunftsfähigen

Telekom will das intelligente Zuhause erobern
Die Deutsche Telekom will sich im wachsenden Markt für das intelligente Zuhause
im globalen Wettbewerb mit einer offenen Plattform und einem großen
Partner-Netzwerk aufstellen. Vernetzung sei das Kerngeschäft des Konzerns,
betonte Michael Hagspihl, der bei der Telekom das Privatkundengeschäft
verantwortet, am 4. April in Berlin. "Wir werden den Kuchen nicht den anderen
überlassen", so Hagspihl. Vor allem gegen den Wettbewerb aus den Vereinigten
Staaten wie beispielsweise Google und dessen Schwesterfirma Nest wolle das

Production of automatic transmissions starts in Romania
Daimler started production of its nine-speed automatic transmission in Romania
on April 4. "With the expansion of transmission production in Sebes, we are
able to respond more flexibly and efficiently to the growing demand for
automatic transmissions," says Markus Schäfer, Member of the Divisional Board
of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Production and Supply Chain Management. Romania is also
considered a candidate with good prospects to be selected as the site for one

Slovakia: Production exceeds one-million threshold
Slovakia, which has been the world's biggest automaker per capita for several
years, harboring car factories from Volkswagen, Kia and PSA, for the first time
saw the production of more than one million cars in 2015. However, a precise
number for the past year has not been published so far, as Volkswagen Slovakia,
which is the biggest manufacturer in the country, is set to present its data
not before early May. According to preliminary data, about 400,000 vehicles,
including painted and fully-equipped bodies of the Porsche Cayenne, were built

Toyota expands Microsoft partnership in connected vehicle services
Toyota Motor is expanding a five-year-old partnership with Microsoft to develop
new internet-connected vehicle services for owners and dealers, Toyota said on
April 4. The Japanese automaker has established Toyota Connected at its U.S.
headquarters in Plano, Texas, to consolidate its existing connectivity services
and serve as the company's "data science" hub. Microsoft holds a five percent

Mexican state government eyes deal with Kia
A Mexican state government official said on April 4 the government could reach
a deal with Kia Motors in "the coming days" in a dispute over the terms
surrounding the opening of the South Korean automaker's first plant in the
country. The government in the northern state of Nuevo León, led by independent
Jaime Rodríguez Calderón, has been demanding that Kia renegotiate some of the
incentives pledged in an agreement struck in 2014 under the previous state

Delphi develops plug connections for the Ethernet
For automated driving, vehicles require safe and fast data connections with a
high bandwidth that exceed the limits of the technologies currently available.
Ethernet is considered as the solution of choice to move the future amounts of
data. With its AMEC plug-connection technology, Delphi has developed an
expandable product family of plug connections that are supposed to enable the
straightforward application of Ethernet networks in vehicles, meeting the

Telekom wants to occupy the smart home
Deutsche Telekom plans to position itself in the growing market for smart homes
with an open platform and a big partner network to better compete globally.
Networking is the corporation's core business, stressed Michael Hagspihl, head
of Telekom Deutschland's private-client business, in Berlin on April 4. "We
won't leave the cake to the others," said Hagspihl. With its open platform
Qivicon, the company aims to "make a stand" primarily against competitors from
