VW unterzeichnet Abkommen mit SAIC Motor
Volkswagen hat nach eigenen Angaben ein Kooperationsabkommen mit SAIC Motor
Corporation unterzeichnet, um die Produktion, Forschung und Entwicklung
elektrischer Fahrzeuge in China voranzutreiben. VW hat zugestimmt, das
Hauptwerk des chinesischen Gemeinschaftsunternehmens Shanghai Volkswagen in
Anting zu erweitern. In den nächsten vier Jahren will der deutsche
Autohersteller mehr als 15 verschiedene Elektromodelle an die lokalen
Besonderheiten in China anpassen, darunter Plug-in-Hybride und vollelektrische

Insider: PSA schafft hydraulische Federung ab
PSA Peugeot Citroën will Insidern zufolge die hydraulische Federung, einst der
Schlüsselfaktor für die Attraktivität des Citroën DS, abschaffen, um Kosten zu
senken. Die Technologie, die in einem PSA-Werk in Nordfrankreich gefertigt
wird, soll mit der Limousine Citroën C5 auslaufen, wie mehrere dem Unternehmen
nahestehende Quellen angeben. Ein Sprecher von PSA wollte sich zu den
Produktplänen des Unternehmens nicht äußern, weil sie vertraulich seien.

Nissan strebt großen US-Marktanteil an
Nissan-Chef Carlos Ghosn hält an seinem Ziel fest, bis zum Ende des
Geschäftsjahres 2016 einen Anteil von zehn Prozent am US-Automarkt zu erobern.
Ghosn zufolge werden die neue Sportlimousine Maxima, das Crossover-SUV Rogue
und verschiedene andere Modelle die Verkäufe der Marke bis zum 31. März 2017
von 8,4 auf 10,0 Prozent steigern. Dies erscheint ambitioniert angesichts des
Umstands, dass Nissan im Jahr 2011, als Ghosn das Ziel vorgab, erst einen

Ford und Toyota prüfen Zusammenarbeit
Ford und Toyota könnten sich zusammentun, um dem Vormarsch von Apple und Google
in den Cockpits ihrer Fahrzeuge entgegenzuwirken. Die beiden Autohersteller
prüfen laut einem Bericht der Finanznachrichtenagentur Bloomberg eine
Kooperation bei Systemen zur Integration von Smartphones in künftigen Modellen.
Damit würden sie verstärkt in Konkurrenz mit Plattformen der
Smartphone-Anbieter wie Carplay von Apple oder Android Auto von Google treten.

Federal-Mogul baut Antriebssparte aus
Der von Wall-Street-Investor Carl Icahn kontrollierte Zulieferer Federal-Mogul
Holdings verlegt 140 Mitarbeiter von drei Standorten in Ohio und Michigan in
den Detroiter Vorort Plymouth Township, um seine Antriebssparte auszubauen. Im
Zuge der Konsolidierung wird das Unternehmen sein technisches Zentrum in
Plymouth Township von knapp 8.200 auf mehr als 11.000 Quadratmeter erweitern.
Federal-Mogul dürfte mehr als neun Millionen Dollar für die Expansion ausgeben,

Londoner Polizei erhält 20.000 Körperkameras
Die Londoner Polizeibeamten sollen den Behörden zufolge mit 20.000 am Körper zu
tragenden Kameras ausgerüstet werden, mehr als in jeder anderen Stadt. Die
Kameras sollen dabei helfen, Beweise zu sammeln und das öffentliche Vertrauen
in die Beamten wiederherstellen. Ethnischen Minderheiten könnten die Geräte
helfen: Sie sind unverhältnismäßig stark von Durchsuchungen durch Polizisten
betroffen, was zu vermehrter Kritik führt. Allerdings haben Bürgerrechtsgruppen

VW signs deal with SAIC Motor
Volkswagen said it has signed a cooperation agreement with SAIC Motor
Corporation to boost production, research and development of electric vehicles
in China. VW explained it has agreed to expand the main plant of the Chinese
joint venture Shanghai Volkswagen in Anting. Over the next four years, the
German automaker plans to localize more than 15 different electric vehicle
models in China, including plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles, the

PSA scraps hydraulic suspension - sources
Hydraulic suspension, once key to the appeal of the original Citroën DS, is to
be scrapped by PSA Peugeot Citroën, as the automaker cuts costs, insiders said.
The technology, manufactured at a PSA plant in northern France, is set to end
with the Citroën C5 sedan, according to several sources close to the company. A
spokesman for PSA did not want to comment on company product plans, which

Nissan aims for big U.S. market share
Nissan Motor CEO Carlos Ghosn is sticking to his goal to grab ten percent of
the U.S. car market by the end of fiscal 2016. He said Nissan will ride sales
growth from the new Maxima sports sedan, Rogue crossover SUV and several other
models to get from 8.4 percent of the market today to 10.0 percent by March 31,
2017. That is ambitious considering that Nissan had 8.2 percent of the market

Ford and Toyota consider cooperation
Ford and Toyota might cooperate to counter Apple and Google's advances into
their car cockpits. The two automakers are considering to cooperate in the

Federal-Mogul expands powertrain division
Federal-Mogul Holdings, the supplier controlled by Wall Street investor Carl
Icahn, is moving 140 employees from three operations in Ohio and Michigan to
the Detroit suburb of Plymouth Township in a bid to expand its powertrain
division. As part of the consolidation, the company will expand its technical
center in Plymouth Township to 120,000 square feet from 88,000 square feet.
Federal-Mogul is expecting to spend more than nine million dollars on the

London police to get 20,000 body cameras
London's police officers are to be equipped with 20,000 body-worn cameras, more
than in any other city, to help them gather evidence and improve public
confidence in them, authorities announced. While the cameras could help ethnic
minorities disproportionately affected by "stop and search" police powers,
which have become a bone of contention, civil rights groups have expressed
