Next week, join us for the repeat broadcast of "Lost Roman Treasure," in
which NOVA follows archeologists as they rush to save artifacts from
Turkey's ancient city of Zeugma before it is flooded when waters rise
behind a new dam. (Subjects covered: anthropology/archeology, social
studies, world history)

     Last-Ditch Archeology
     In this interview, read about the current state of
     Zeugma and some of the hazards facing other ancient
     sites and monuments. (Grades 6-8, 9-12)

     Remote Excavation
     Find out about 10 of the modern archeologist's
     remote-sensing tools, from aerial photography to
     soil resistivity. (Grades 6-8, 9-12)

     Damming the Past
     Learn about six of the largest dam projects of
     the past half century -- one completed, another
     abandoned, and four now underway -- that have
     posed threats to nearby archeological treasures.
     (Grades 6-8, 9-12)

     View the Mosaics
     View 10 Roman mosaics depicting Greek mythology
     from the Zeugma site. (Grades 3-5, 6-8, 9-12)

     Teacher's Guide
     In this classroom activity, students consider
     what future archeologists might assume about a
     present-day city. (Grades 6-8)

     The site includes a complete narration for
     this program.
