Welcome to this edition of DINOSAURNEWS - the international Dinosaur
Webzine with bite!

This Week's Headlines: (For the FULL STORY visit the NEWS section of the
webzine at this address: http://www.dinosaurnews.org )

** Newfound dinosaur a transitional creature
Fossil hunters in Utah have discovered a toothy and sickle-clawed relative
of Velociraptor that was in the process of shedding its carnivorous past for
a diet of leafy greens, a find that opens up an important evolutionary
window for one of palaeontology's oddest families.

** Neither scrambled nor over easy
When director Steven Spielberg's virtual dinosaurs tore across movie screens
around the world in the late 1990s, many Chinese suddenly realized they were
actually living in Jurassic parks: there are at least 20 places in China
that claim to be dinosaur hometowns on the basis of their large collections
of prehistoric skeletons and eggs

** T. Rex Birthday Party with Al Jarreau
Five-time Grammy-winning vocal performer Al Jarreau will sing "Happy
Birthday" to Sue at The Field Museum's media preview for its Sue 5th
Birthday Celebration, May 14-17

** West Prairie students discover dinosaurs
Stone's program includes two informational lectures followed by individual
visits by each class, where students get a chance to see the exhibits up close

** New find who went head first for a mate
A previously unknown type of dinosaur used its blunt forehead to smash into
rivals in violent courtship displays, research has suggested

** Dinosaurs on parade again
The American Museum of Natural History in New York City and the Field Museum
in Chicago are among places that will debut dinosaur shows this month

** Not your grandfather's dinosaur exhibit
In cherry-picking the best of palaeontology over the past decade, the
researchers and artists behind the American Museum of Natural History's new
dinosaur exhibit have cultivated some rather peculiar fruits

** Dinosaur seen at McWane Centre
Palaeontologists this spring identified a new species of dinosaur, and the
McWane Centre has the biggest chunk of a specimen
