Thanks Tim! Ed - - - - Ed: Thank you for the inquiry. May 30th of this year in the afternoon, a sport aircraft crashed shortly after taking off on runway 17. The aircraft slid onto the runway and the left wing tank was opened by the grinding action of the composite material of the wing on the runway. Some 20 plus gallons of fuel leaked onto the runway and ate through the asphalt binder exposing the aggregate beneath. This damage must be repaired prior to the onset of winter and the freezing temperatures that accompany it. In an effort to be less of a hindrance to the flying public, this work will be done at night, September 12th and begin at 6:00 p.m., and should start and finish the same night. NOTAMs will be issued prior to the day of the work. I thank you for your support Timothy B. Deike, A.A.E./C.A.E. Leesburg Executive Airport Director 1001 Sycolin Road, S.E.
