Hi All,
Zonealarm released a program upgrade for both their Premium and Free
firewall. So if you use Zonealarm and don't have it set to automatically
check for updates you might want to run a check manually. This upgrade
is primarily a security fix, so you'll want to get it.
For those not familiar, firewalls protect you more from Internet related
hacks than from e-mail borne viruses.
"Many threats on the Internet can access unprotected PCs without coming
in through e-mail or web contact, but instead through IP addresses and
open Ports. One of the best ways to thwart an attack is to use a personal
firewall. A Firewall on a PC acts as a sentry to Internet and network
traffic, blocking or allowing connections based on a set of rules."
So if you aren't running a Firewall, and do much surfing, you might want
to reconsider. There are several freebies out there besides Zonealarm,
but for my $ it's hard to beat.
