To get rid of the "Best of the Web" screen, you can try the following
(Win 95+ assumed):
Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del. This brings up the "Close Program" dialog box. Now,
highlight "Best of the Web" and click "End Task." This should kill the
proper screen.
Also, another trick is to hit Window Key + D. This is the keyboard
shortcut for "Show Desktop"
