The new (March, 2005, pp. 100-105) Reader's Digest has an article on the
"Nigerian letter" and what happened to one person who fell for it. It also says
this is the second most common spam behind "that drug" for men. That it costs
Americans $100 million a year, that over 300 people/scammers have been jailed
in
Nigeria, and that it is damaging investment in Nigeria.
Also, on pages 116-7, several pictures taken after a racehorse fell, with
personnel trying to keep a loose horse away from an injured female jockey.
