The reason I poked the mailing list was to find out who is still here. and
as well as the 4 others who have submitted JHB Airlines PIREPs in the last
year, it seems that most of us are still around in one way or the other.
That is encouraging, as I have always had this itch that needs scratching
to keep JHB Airlines going after 20 years as a member - and one of the most
recent at that - if not the most recent!
I have put a proposal to Bones that rather than let JHB slowly fade away
as some of us move on to other things, I would take on the day to day
running of the VA and slowly try to introduce new members. Bones has
agreed provided there is support for this from the JHB crew. My proposal
is for me to update the website, removing FS2002 and FS2004 material, and
introducing X-Plane and P3D material. I would keep all the Repaints (some
FS9 ones will work in FSX), the routes, tutorials, etc., and news page up
to date, and continue processing the PIREPs as I do now. The overall style
of the site will not change. The free flying policy in all aircraft types
would continue as now - in fact I don't propose any policy changes at all,
just an injection of new energy, really. Bones will maintain overall
control and I will consult him on any suggested change from the current
modus operandi.
If members agree to this proposal in principle, I will update the website
on a new server, and if members are happy with the new site and content,
Bones will delete the original.
So can I have a show of hands that this proposal is acceptable or not?
