Deleting a code is not the problem. The problem is that if when in word
perfect one types a number then hits the tab key it places a left indent, in
other words a hanging indent, which indents subsequent lines until a hard
return is inserted. I suspect that one can alter this by working on the
default template, but I have been unable to find how to do so as of yet.

The quick work around is to tab twice then place the number between the
tabs. Certainly not the prefered method, but it does work.

I will keep checking.

John,

I must be missing something. The way to get rid of a WordPerfect code, as
I'm sure you know, is simply to press the delete key on it. This particular
code turns up, in my experience, after either pressing the F7 hanging indent

or accidentally pressing the shift key with tab.
